Swings a blowin -- WCC21

Over at the Watercooler Susan gave us a fabulous colour challenge:

Five unique colours which do in fact look wonderful together yet it can be quite a challenge to work them all in. Well, looking at these colours reminded me of Colors of the Wind, the Disney movie with that wonderful song by Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken.  That song has been a favourite of mine since it was created. Remembering the song helped me to pull them all together on a card depicting the fun of swinging through the air on a breezing spring day.

stamps: sheltering tree
paper: calypso coral, whisper white
ink: bermuda bay, so saffron, calpso coral, pool party, sahara sand (smoky slate for the tree)

Please head over to the Watercooler Challenges Blog and take a look at what the other artists have made. And, if you are feeling the colours, why not make a card and post it to the blog? You may win some blog candy.

  1. Very cool concept of a swing blowing in the wind. Love the way you incorporated all the colors too. Reminds me of my days in New Mexico for some reason. Probably the vivid sky colors and all those dots blowing. We always had cotton bits and bobs blowing in the wind from the Cotton Gin down the way. Made for a white summer. Well really...by the time they blew around they were mostly Sahara Sand. The red swing is a very cool detail. Thanks for firing the imagination with your creativity.
    Hugs, blessings and Happy Easter!

  2. Bev thanks for your great card. I love being in the wind, and the scene you created took me back to my childhood and many happy days on a swing set, quite often on a blustery day. I love how your use of the colours to create movement on this card. Thanks also for the reminder of the song, Colours of the Wind. Brings back memories and since I hadn't heard it for awhile, I played it and went to a happy place!
