Happy Birthday Spring Card -- WCC15

Amazing how we really haven't had winter for very long, and yet now that Christmas is over, I am ready for Spring!  It may be all the new goodies I see in the Occasions Catalogue, but I really would prefer if winter decided to go on an extended holiday.

I was chatting by the Watercooler the other day, and Terri came up with the idea of trying something NEW for this week's challenge at Watercooler Challenges. And NEW can be taken in any direction. Now sometimes given such open-ended instructions is overwhelming to me. I often prefer explicit instructions and then find a way to be creative within strict parameters. Luckily, this time I am overjoyed with the idea! I feel like the sky's the limit.

For my offering, I decided to create a "Spring" card literally and figuratively. This means I found a tutorial for a type of card called "Spring Card" and made a happy birthday spring, spring card -- get it? I have never made a card like this before, hence, NEW. Then I adapted the dimensions so that the card could fit into a regular A2 invitation envelope -- NEW.  Also I am using a NEW stamp set. Not only that but I am using designer paper as my cardbase and that is NEW for me too.

stamps: butterfly basics, kinda eclectic, petite pairs (sentiment)
paper: daffodil delight d.s.p. pack, mossy meadow, whisper white
ink: elegant eggplant, daffodil delight (classic & blendies), wild wasabi (blendies), memento black, mossy meadow
accessories/tools: elegant eggplant candy dots, bitty butterfly punch, sponge glue dots

Now it's your turn:

Start with a 8-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of d.s.p. then follow the tutorial for Spring Cards found HERE. And if you prefer to see the instructions in action, here's the video tutorial.

Be sure to head over the the Watercooler to catch up on the latest cards and gossip!

  1. I love it, Bev. I've done the "other" version which Darrah shared a couple fo years ago, but your version gets rid of that one side and I love the way it becomes a real bouncy card. (Notice I avoided the word spring?) Great use of images on the card, too. I love that new stamp set! Thanks so much for sharing.
