Did a few cards the other day using punch art. It really is fun and definitely 3D! An interesting change of pace from stamps. I've seen a few tulip cards over the years. A quick google search for punch art tulip and you will find plenty.
I choose Amanda Mertz's design as a starting point. She actually does a lovely job explaining how she created her tulip on her blog:

For mine I used the handy dandy owl punch. Punched out two. One for the middle then I used the extra-large oval punch on the 2nd owl-punched piece to create the two front petals. The little leaves sizzlits die made the leaves. For the stem I used half of the word window punch. I sponged some colour onto the petals to add dimension.
