Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop #6

Hello again! Having arrived from Terri's blog I'm sure you'll agree how superbly talented she is.  Now it's my turn to share with you my recent endeavours.

Saturday, a very enjoyable group of ladies joined me to discover how to use one stamp set five different ways. So often I've bought a set, made a few cards and then all of a sudden I am stumped.  Am I correct in thinking you too have been stumped?

This creative exercise was more challenging than I first realized. While I know of several different techniques, it was tricky for me to limit my scope of tools.  Of course I did cheat a little bit deciding to use two sentiments not in this set.  Luckily I used the newer set Happy Watercolor from the Occasions catalogue, as it has background, sentiment and image stamps.

Here are two of the cards we made:

Happy Easter card:  sentiment from delightful dozen set
tangerine tango, daffodil delight, basic black, watercolor wonder dsp, whisper white and gold foil paper
Pssst card: real red, costal cabana, whisper white, fresh prints pack, gold e.p.
hint:  after stamping sentiment punch out the white strip with the word window punch then use the banner punch to created the "V" on one side

Another of the cards from Saturday utilized creating background paper with the stamps in the set.  This can be a lot of fun to do.  I do hope you give it a try.  Just get a piece of whisper white paper, choose coordinating colours, and alternate colours and stamps from the set until you feel there is enough there.  Add a feature stamp in the layering, and voila, one finished card.

This last item I received inspiration from that wonderful little banner punch in the Sale-a-bration brochure. On the whisper white strip there are two punched-out sections from the banner punch allowing to see the print on the designer paper.  I stamped the flower from Betsy's Blossoms on white then punched it out.  Also used the banner punch on strips of elegant eggplant to clip off the "V" of the banner on each side as an accent frame behind the flower.

Stamps:  Betsy's Blossoms, Express Yourself (hostess)
Paper:  elegant eggplant, coastal cabana, fresh prints designer series paper stack, whisper white
Ink:  elegant eggplant, real red, coastal cabana

Well that is it for me and it is also the end of the Wacky Watercooler March Blog Hop.  So sad I know. Never fear, you can navigate around again using the clickable images below. PREVIOUS will take you back to Terri's blog. NEXT will take you to the beginning of the hop where you can start all over again with Deb's blog.  Thanks for stopping by!

  13. Hi Bev, it was such a pleasure to check out your blog hop post. What a difference there is between the two cards, both using the Happy Watercolour stamp set. The first one really appeals to me with its soft pastels and use of the poppy. It's perfect with the DSP that you've used. I hope you'll find time to post the other three cards you made using the stamp set at another time. Your use of the banner punch is perfect. I would never have thought to punch out images from the Bright Blossoms stamp set. But the flowers are perfect against the background DSP. Thanks so much for sharing.
